A city in scenic Keyser Township, Garrett is situated in DeKalb County, Indiana. It features a number of places listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Garrett Community Mausoleum, Keyser Tonship School 8, and the John Wilderson House.

The city was platted back in 1875 when the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad came to that point. It was named for John W. Garrett, the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad president from 1858 to 1884. Finally, it was incorporated in 1875 as a city.
